CCI – Community Involvement

Community Involvement

How You Can Get Involved in NHIRI’s Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) in Research
The Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute (NHIRI) focusses’ on people across the community with lifestyle-related health challenges such as chronic disease, as well as the broader population who can benefit from prevention and healthier living.
Consumer and community involvement is essential to ensure our research reflects real-world experiences and priorities. By involving people with lived experiences and those who can share insights from their communities, NHIRI can better understand the barriers people face, the support they need, and how research can be more relevant and accessible.
Have your Say: Become a Consumer Representative
A consumer representative is “A person with lived experience of a health issue and/or accessing health care and health systems. This includes patients and potential patients, and their families, friends, carers, and other members of the public. Consumers can also include people who represent consumer organisations or individual patients.” As a Consumer Representative, you will bring the voice of a broader community or group into the research process.
You may be connected to a consumer organisation or have strong links to a particular community, and you will help ensure that research reflects shared priorities, needs, and perspectives.
This role involves contributing to discussions, providing feedback, and supporting decision-making so that research is more inclusive, relevant, and meaningful.
Your contribution helps ensure that research outcomes better reflect the people they are designed to benefit.
