Implementation Cafe

Journal club – session 11.

There was no recording for this session but you can still gain a little insight to the presentation through the resources below.

Engaging Communities for Tobacco-Free Futures – How implementation mapping—a structured, theory-driven approach to planning and executing health interventions—can be harnessed to boost tobacco cessation uptake through community engagement.

Our guest presenter was Dr Aaron Seaman, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa, whose research blends medical anthropologyimplementation science, and health equity, with a strong focus on cancer survivorshipaging, and rural health systems. His work explores how people, especially older adults and those in rural areas, navigate complex healthcare systems after cancer treatment. He uses qualitative methods to understand patient experiences and system-level barriers, and applies implementation frameworks to improve care delivery.

Dr Seaman presented an engaging talk on his current research showcasing several implementation science concepts that we have been discussing in The Cafe. His project targets chronic disease prevention in rural communities, with a specific focus on tobacco and nicotine use in young adults.
