About the
research

Our overarching goal is to support a pipeline of curiosity driven research to improve health across the lifespan. Our focus is on reducing the burden of cardiometabolic, neurodegenerative and musculoskeletal diseases to improve overall health and enable healthy aging. We work with large data sets, develop and evaluate new resources, as well as perform high impact trials and interventions to prevent and manage chronic disease:

Large observational data sets

  • Identify protective dietary components, risk factors, and biomarkers for a range of diseases across the lifespan
  • Develop evidence to inform the design of high-quality clinical trials

Conduct high – impact trials or interventions

  • That create real world impact
  • Co-designed using consumer and community engagement
  • Utilise implementation science to ensure effective interventions have real world application

Develop and evaluate new resources

  • Creation of food bioactive and other databases
  • Development of biochemical methods to detect novel biomarkers
  • Adopt and evaluate new technologies developed by Research Technology and Innovation Theme
