Bridging the gap: Standardising Care for Exercise and Nutrition in Cancer
Evidence shows that exercise and nutrition play a vital role in improving outcomes for people undergoing cancer treatment. However, in regional Western Australia (WA), referrals to these essential services are not routinely provided. This results in a significant “know-do” gap between best practice recommendations and real-world implementation.
Through Project SCENIC, our team aims to close this gap by developing and implementing an exercise and nutrition referral pathway in South West WA. We are collaborating with local community partners to create a system that is practical for clinicians and accessible for patients. By successfully integrating a pathway for exercise into standard cancer care, we are driven to improve survivorship and health outcomes for people across the region.
We work closely with local health and community organisations providing care to people with cancer.
