Meet the SCENIC Research Team

Dr Mary Kennedy is an implementation scientist and the lead researcher for Project SCENIC. Dr. Kennedy currently holds a prestigious Western Australia Cancer Council Fellowship, which supports her efforts to develop and evaluate strategies that make cancer services more effective, sustainable, and patient centred. In Project SCENIC, Mary works closely with our partners: the health teams, community exercise partners and consumers with cancer experience in the design, implementation, and scaling opportunities for the referral system.

Ms Pam Eldridge is an Exercise Physiologist with practical experience in exercise assessment and prescription for patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Within Project SCENIC she combines her expertise in exercise oncology with behaviour change strategies in the planning and delivery of exercise consultations.

Professor Sara Bayes brings deep expertise in implementation science to Project SCENIC, ensuring our initiatives integrate seamlessly across health systems and community care. Her research leverages Participatory Action Research and implementation principles to drive meaningful, sustainable practice change.

Ms Georgia White is an Exercise Physiologist with a special interest in exercise oncology and women’s health. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast looking into implementation of exercise oncology into routine cancer care in Queensland. At Project SCENIC, Georgia supports the exercise team with specialist consultation.

Dr Jack Dalla Via specialises in design and delivery of exercise programs that are safe, effective, and accessible for cancer survivors and people living with chronic disease. At Project SCENIC, Jack provides practical guidance on tailoring exercise interventions to real-world health settings. Jack is based at Deakin University’s Faculty of Health, School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition.

Dr Lauren Fortington is a public health researcher providing methodological support to Project SCENIC as it moves from the SouthWest to a statewide system, and supporting the team to develop a map of exercise services available in the WA community.
